Fantasy basketball tips and projections for Monday

With 22 teams in action, it’s important for managers and bettors to have a discerning lens given such volume of choice. One key tool to leverage during such busy days in the league is point totals, as they can help indicate which climates are projected and expected to be friendly offensively. A more physical, playoff-like brand of basketball has emerged around the league lately thanks to shifts in officiating, so games with lofty totals stand out even more.

Looking over Monday’s schedule, we find three games with totals of at least 230 points, all of which actually sit above 233. More possessions and more points are what we want from a fantasy perspective. The first of this trio sees the Phoenix Suns visit the San Antonio Spurs in a game with a total of 233.5 at ESPN BET. As you’ll see in our streaming section below, a uniquely versatile Spurs forward makes for a strong plug-and-play option.

The Dallas Mavericks are in Salt Lake City tonight to face the Utah Jazz in a game with the day’s highest total (236.5). The Jazz have the league’s worst defensive rating (125.1) by a wide measure over the past 10 games. The top-heavy Mavs run most of their action through their duo of superstar creators, yet Utah produces multiple streaming candidates, as you’ll read below.

The final game in this “230 club” has the Indiana Pacers playing the LA Clippers. Both offenses rank in the top four in pace this season. Two-way wing Aaron Nesmith (11.0% rostered in ESPN leagues) becomes more fantasy relevant in what reads like a points-fest in Los Angeles tonight.

Another actionable tool during such a busy night is to allow our stream team to help guide your utility decisions. It can prove challenging to keep up with all the injury news and rotational shifts at this stage of the season, so let us help in that regard.

Ayo Dosunmu, Chicago Bulls (Rostered in 31.8% of ESPN leagues)

Dosunmu had a quieter line last time out which is reasonable, considering the Bulls faced a Boston Celtics team stacked with perimeter defenders. Chicago faces a Washington Wizards that won’t claim much resistance at the point of attack. Dosunmu could get back on track in a big way tonight.

Isaiah Hartenstein, PF/C, New York Knicks (40.4%)

Some truly absurd defensive results have emerged from this active big man in recent games. With the potential to collect multiple steals and blocks in any given matchup, while also proving to be a double-double threat, Hartenstein is in a top spot against the feeble Pistons.

Kelly Olynyk, PF/C, Toronto Raptors (26.8%)

How many centers in the Eastern Conference can achieve double-digit dimes in any random game? Olynyk is in this unique club, as he just dished 10 dimes last time out and should again be a busy distributor against the undersized Nets tonight. Teammate Gary Trent Jr. (27.9%) is also a fine candidate to help managers given his rare blend of 3-and-D rates.

Scoot Henderson, PG, Portland Trail Blazers (51.5%)

The Trail Blazers are turning to their young prospects in these final weeks of the season. Injuries to their core of veterans only adds to the opportunity rates Henderson should consume tonight against the Rockets.

Jeremy Sochan, PG/PF, San Antonio Spurs (25.5%)

Dangerous in passing lanes and with a growing ability to clean the glass, Sochan is the rare player eligible at both point guard and power forward thanks to the team’s early-season experiment aimed at expanding his game. Sochan should prove busy this evening in a game with fun offensive metrics in place.

Santi Aldama, PF/C, Memphis Grizzlies (16.0%)

The Grizzlies’ frontcourt has endured a wild amount of attrition this season. Aldama is the rare frontcourt vet for the team who has been mostly healthy this season, but more importantly, very productive in recent games. The Nuggets are not a fun matchup, per se, but Aldama’s secure role often leads to nice results.
