Zion Williamson has sore finger, day-to-day, Pelicans coach says

“Everything structurally was fine, just some soreness in his finger,” Green said.

Williamson missed the last 7:24 of Wednesday night’s 117-108 loss to the Orlando Magic because of the finger injury. He said after the game that he “got hit a few times” on the finger, but the initial injury might have happened with 2:25 left in the second quarter, when he hit his hand on the side of the backboard while blocking Jalen Suggs‘ layup attempt at the rim.

The Pelicans, who are seventh in the Western Conference entering Thursday, next play Friday against the San Antonio Spurs. They are a half-game behind the Dallas Mavericks for the No. 5 spot in the West.

Asked whether Williamson would play against the Spurs, Green said, “We’ll see. We’ll see what happens.”

New Orleans is also dealing with injuries to Brandon Ingram (left knee bone contusion) and Jose Alvarado (right oblique strain). Ingram missed his seventh consecutive game Wednesday, Alvarado his fourth in a row.
