Miami Dolphins rookie Jaylen Waddle scores first TD on 3-yard pass from Tua Tagovailoa

Waddle had been highly involved in Miami’s game plan prior to his touchdown catch; he was the target on five of Tagovailoa’s 17 pass attempts in the first half, including an impressive 36-yard catch over Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones on Miami’s final drive of the second quarter. The Dolphins quickly entered the red zone on their opening drive of the second half on the heels of a 30-yard reception by DeVante Parker and a 12-yard catch and 15-yard run from Myles Gaskin.

After a pair of rushes out of the Wildcat formation by Salvon Ahmed and Malcolm Brown, Tagovailoa found Waddle on the bubble screen and the rookie powered into the end zone.

The No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft led the Dolphins in receiving with 61 yards and a score on four catches at the time of the score.
