Florida Mutineers to hold Call of Duty Warzone charity event with NFL players

The money will go toward COVID-19 charities.

The participants include NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens, former Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier, Mack Wilson and Jedrick Wills of the Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Vernon Butler, Carolina Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson, New York Giants cornerback James Bradberry and Seattle Seahawks running back DeeJay Dallas.

“It’s always incredible to see pro players go head to head with professional athletes,” said Misfits Gaming Group CEO and co-founder Ben Spoont. “After the fun we had at our Miami event in February with the Mutineers and NFL players, we were excited to bring the esports and sports worlds together again for an entertaining showdown that’s helping a fantastic cause.”

The athletes, along with Call of Duty pros and streamers, will make up 12 squads of four. The winning team will receive a $5,000 donation in their name to a COVID-19 charity of their choice. The tournament will kick off at 6 p.m. ET.

The Florida Mutineers will also host this weekend’s CDL Home Series. The Mutineers are currently tied for fourth in the league standings, with one tournament weekend victory in April during the league’s first online event after restarting during the pandemic.
