D.J. Moore turns short route into long touchdown for Panthers

The third-year player out of Maryland made a nifty spin move that left Atlanta Falcons cornerback Isaiah Simmons grabbing for air and turned it into a 57-yard touchdown catch and run.

The score gave Carolina, seeking to go above .500 for the first time since Week 10 last season, a 13-7 lead in the Georgia Dome with about two and a half minutes left in the first half.

Moore came into the game with 18 catches, third on the team behind Anderson (28) and running back Mike Davis (21). He had been outplayed by Anderson most of the first half against the Falcons until the touchdown.

It was Bridgewater’s second touchdown pass of longer than 50 yards this season, tying him with Justin Herbert and Jared Goff for the league lead. Bridgewater had only two 50-plus yard touchdown passes in his 48-game career before this season.
