Browns practice offense, defense separately after latest player tests positive for COVID-19

The team later announced that linebacker Sione Takitaki was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. This is the fourth time a Browns player has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past two weeks.

The Browns practiced Wednesday with the offense and defense working at different times, coach Kevin Stefanski said.

In all, eight players were held out as a precaution in Wednesday’s practice as the team conducted contact tracing. None of the players — Dontrell Hilliard, Robert Jackson, Elijah Lee, Jacob Phillips, Malcolm Smith, Taywan Taylor, Tavierre Thomas and Mack Wilson — are considered high risk and each is expected back Thursday.

Star defensive end Myles Garrett is already on the reserve/COVID-19 list. He sat out Sunday’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles and has been ruled out of Cleveland’s game at Jacksonville this weekend.
